Mr. Oppici has more than twenty-five (25) years of legal experience in the fields of municipal/government law, labor and employment law and litigation, all in the context of the representation of public entities throughout the State of New Jersey. He has extensive experience in the areas of labor and employment law, including sexual harassment and discrimination claims, whistleblower claims, family leave, wage and hour, breach of contract, grievance arbitrations, disciplinary appeals, unfair practice charges, petitions for clarification of unit, representation petitions, amendment of certification petitions, eligibility appeals, layoff appeals and contract negotiations. Mr. Oppici also has considerable experience litigating claims for violation of constitutional rights and complex tort actions. He has frequently appeared before Federal and State courts, including matters before appellate courts, as well as the NJ Civil Service Commission, the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC), US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights (DCR) and various administrative courts, labor grievance arbitrations and employee disciplinary hearings.
Before joining Eric M. Bernstein & Associates, L.L.C., Mr. Oppici served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for both the City of Jersey City and the City of Newark, all of which provided him significant experience of various aspects of government/municipal law, as well as his labor and employment experience noted above. He also served as an Assistant to the Director of Unfair Practices with the New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission.
